We spent some days over the festive season in my German home, Bochum. I spent most of my life here and a lot of memories came up when I was planning the trip with Hannah. Â Obviously we brought bikes because I wanted to show Hannah places I have ridden far before we even met.
Just about 15 minutes by car from where I grew up you can find a beautiful rural area called the “Elfringhauser Schweiz”, basically a tiny clone of Switzerland. It all looks so much different to most of Bochum and the surrounding Cities with a strong industrial history. Here you find a lot of farmland, woods, climbs, quiet roads and many more things like that.
We started at the Schulenburg in Hattingen (a restaurant right at the woods) and rode over to “Berger Hof” which used to be a prime spot for a coffee & cake or lunch break. Unfortunately, the place was closed and rumour has it that it might have closed down for good.
Find below some photos of our trip.
