Back in October veloccino were invited along to partake as one of the 450 red coats looking to catch 4 wily foxes in the shape of newly crowned World Champion Loic Bruni, Trek Factory rider Gee Atherton, Red Bull athlete Greg Callaghan and London’s very own urban fox Rob Warner.

Nestled just behind the Mourne Mountains and overlooking the Carlingford Lough the purpose built track took in all the elevation Rostrevor Mountain Bike Trail Centre had to offer. After a short push up to the starting gate the pack formed hungry to beat 4 legendary riders in the world down to the bottom of the mountain in some of the best winter riding conditions.

After some initial busy hardpack singletrack  the race opened up into a motorway section coupled with some huge side by side senders perfect for overtaking. As 4 abreast got squeezed into the loose open turns the race then plunged into the Northern Irish woodland where there were multiple lines for the red coats and foxes alike to scuttle down. The crowds were absolutely roaring as the riders plummeted through one of demanding parts of the track, a large rock drop which asked for no nonsense, twist-grip riding. Once out the woodland the riders were greeted with a wooden sender into the muddy abyss where they were met with fellow red coats and this years winner Kelan Grant.

An amazing day was had by all, many thanks to @RedBullIre for inviting us to the great event and the Mourne Heritage Trust for providing one of the best riding locations we have been to this year and of course all the riders and marshalls who facilitated the event. Watch @RobWarner ‘s hilarious on board here from the day also! https://www.redbull.com/int-en/red-bull-foxhunt-rob-warner-pov
