Hannah has just completed Ironman 70.3 Mallorca 2016 in rather uncharacteristic weather conditions. At this time of year, sunshine is usually a given, however race day provided plenty of torrential rain and strong winds. Despite these tough conditions, she powered her way around the course and set a new pb on this course of 5hrs 22 min giving her 7th place in her AG and a 34th place overall (including pro women). This was all the more impressive given the number of people who DNS or DNF.
Her fast time was partly due to a strong bike leg for which Hannah chose to ride her Ceepo Venom 2014 time trial bike. She finds this bike handles well and this was demonstrated by her powering up the category 2 Coll de Femenia and the Luc Monestary ascent before zooming down the technical but beautiful descent with hairpin turns from Coll de sa Batalla.
The ease with which this time trial bike handles is also demonstrated by the fact she picked this bike up 4 days before the European Duathlon Championships in 2015 and came home with a Silver medal with one of the fastest bike splits. When not racing her ‘speed machine’, Hannah can be found riding many a hill around the Chilterns as well as more crazy climbs and descents in Mallorca such as Sa Calobra (when given the chance!) on this bike in training.
Hannah’s Venom is kitted completely with Shimano Ultegra with a rather impressive 53-39 crankset (11 speed on the back) and a Mavic Cosmic SLS Carbon clincher Wheelset. The decision to ride on this setup was made due to match her Ceepo Mamba 2013 Road Bike, which will be featured in another post further down the line.
